Forum Sempronii - VIA DEL FORNO - Fossombrone
DESCRIPTION

The cardo portion connecting the Via Flaminia (decumanus maximus of the city) with the decumanus minor immediately to the south of it, is now been called "via del Forno". This way, paved with stone from the Furlo like the other roads of Forum Sempronii, bordered to the east the perimeter wall of the central Baths, while to the west was the entrance of the Domus "of exotic animals". Very evident are the grooves, left by the carriages, on the road paving. The presence, along the western side, of a rounded structure interpreted as an oven, along with the nearby discovery of the remains of a millstone in lava rock, have made possible the current name of the street (Oven Street).
